Overview
This position is for a Senior Research Assistant in the Knight Cardiovascular Institute, supporting research focused on vascular biology and pulmonary physiology (asthma). Applicant must have previous research laboratory experience with handing rodents. They will perform experiments individually and as a member of a research team. Senior Research Assistant will be required to perform immunohistochemistry, western blotting, managing cell cultures, managing rodent colonies, and performing ELISA experiments and assist in surgery. Plans, conducts and completes laboratory/animal experiments.Perform experiments in the space of molecular/cellular biology including PCR, Western blot, immunohistochemistry, cell culture, and ELISA.Collect, record, organize and analyze data and attend and present at lab meetings. Responsibilities
Bachelor's in relevant field AND 1 years of relevant experience OR equivalent combination of training and experience Experience in animal handling, rodent husbandry and genotyping Experience in molecular biology applications including but not limited to western blotting, ELISA, immunohistochemistry, and quantitative PCR Familiarity with cell culture techniques Experience in analysis of experimental data Skills/knowledge of standard animal handling and husbandry practices.Skills in navigating and maintaining animal use protocolsSkills/knowledge in protein/DNA prep, Western Blotting, ELISA and immunohistochemistryProficiency in using Microsoft Office applicationsKnowledge of best practices regarding scientific data documentation and collection, data integrity Qualifications
