Overview

Ensure the provision of veterinary care to all colony animals, with an emphasis on non-USDA covered species. Perform veterinary exams, health evaluations, clinical care, and research support. Case management includes coordination and communication with research and DCM staff.Assist investigators with animal study model and experimental design development and regulatory and protocol compliance in the care and use of research animals. Provide veterinary expertise on IACUC protocol development, pre-study planning, compliance with federal regulatory requirements, OHSU and IACUC policies, and DCM processes, guidelines and procedures. Provide and support ongoing educational and training opportunities for colleagues, technical staff, the research community, and veterinary residents, including active participation in the OSLAMRC training program.Assist in indirect supervision of veterinary technicians and veterinary residents through clinical case management. Participate in SOP, guideline, and policy development. Participate in a veterinary on-call rotation to cover after-hours, weekends, and holidays. Other duties as assigned to support the needs of DCM, including administrative or leadership support tasks as needed.
Responsibilities

D.V.M./V.M.D. degree from an American Veterinary Medical Association accredited veterinary school Licensed to practice veterinary medicine in the United StatesACLAM Board eligibleAt least three years of clinical veterinary experience caring for laboratory animals.Familiarity with IACUC functions, federal regulations, and AAALACi standards
Qualifications

ACLAM Board CertificationOregon Veterinary LicensureUSDA Category II accreditationExperience in anesthesia practices and surgery.Experience in the care of a diversity of laboratory species.
