Located in Greater Boston, MassBay is a comprehensive, open-access community college offering associate degrees and certificate programs on three campuses in Wellesley Hills, Framingham, and Ashland, Massachusetts.
Position Summary:
The ideal candidate will join a vibrant and inclusiveeducational community, and have a desire and ability to work with a diversepopulation. This college-wide positionwill report to the Director of Apprenticeship Pathways, supporting currentapprenticeship pathways. This is a full-time administrator role with theexpectation to travel around the region to different work sites and haveregular hours in the evenings and weekends.
The AssistantDirector will focus on the development, growth, and maintenance ofapprenticeship programs. This includes but is not limited to onboarding forapprentices, liaison with college partners like Academic Affairs, FinancialAid, Student Accounts, and Advising. This position will be one of two primaryleaders responsible for implementing and scaling apprenticeships with ourdiverse business partners. The Assistant Director will work to understandprocesses and policies as carry out assessment/data analysis. The Assistant Director will also need tounderstand the policy and procedures for registered apprenticeships, accordingto the Commonwealth of Massachusetts Division of Apprenticeship Standards.
Key Responsibilities and Duties:
Program Development and Coordination(Program Management and Coordination):
Educate employers about the apprenticeship pathway for training and recruitment in collaboration with the Director; Foster and sustain collaborative relationships with industry partners through monthly meetings to support current and future cohorts; Prepare and facilitate preceptor trainings for industry partners each semester; Liaison with college partners, industry partners, and community partners to support participation through successful completion of apprenticeship programs. Examples include but are not limited to faculty meetings, Admissions and Outreach, Advising, Financial Aid, Cashiers, monthly meetings with employer partners, and collaboration with county Workforce offices; Create, update, and maintain apprenticeship playbook for internal MassBay processes and policies; establishing processes and workflow documents to ensure effective day-to-day management of programs; Support the Director with implementation, tracking, and reimbursement of grant funds, when available; Provide timely resolutions to issues and concerns from employers, MassBay Community College departments, Workforce, students, and other stakeholders both internally and externally; Support Director of Healthcare Apprenticeships at employer/industry partner meetings; Develop, grow, and maintain relationships with apprentices, employers, faculty, staff, the MassBay community, and our non-MassBay partners;
Enrollment Management and Navigation:
Responsible for each student in each apprenticeship cohort; navigating through application, onboarding, registration, payment, and completion; Work with our Data Specialist to ensure the necessary documents and records regarding payments, student evaluations, course information, and U.S. Department of Labor/State Apprenticeship Agency records; Develop student success plan, including but not limited to problem-solving procedures, orientation, and mentorship with apprentices to help overcome barriers to their education;
Evaluation/DataAnalysis/Sponsorship:
Ensure all data is properly submitted to the Data Specialist; Evaluate the cohort completion data and work with the Data Specialist to create reporting;
Communications, Marketing,and Outreach:
Support Director in creating marketing outreach documents; Work collaboratively with the various MassBay Community College departments, community partners, and industry partners for marketing outreach; Collaborate with partners across the community to support enrollment in apprenticeships; Develop and implement Information Sessions, recordings, and other sessions that help promote pathways to prospective apprentices; Communicate with apprentices, MassBay staff and employers via email, phone, and in-person; Provide timely and effective assistance to apprentices, college staff, and employers; Assist the Director with the development of public relations and communication strategies to support program goals and increase community awareness; Participate in community events throughout the region that may occur in the evenings or on the weekends;
Support and Participation in ApprenticeshipInitiatives:
Sharing best practices around apprenticeships with community partners and national organizations.

Required Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree with three (3) years of relevant work experience; Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite: Word, Outlook, PowerPoint and Excel; Excellent attention to detail and follow-through; Superior analytical, organizational, and communications skills; Ability to listen and express ideas and thoughts effectively; Ability to work effectively with a diverse population of faculty, staff, students, board members, and other external and internal stakeholders; Demonstrated ability to solve problems creatively in a fast-paced environment.
