TRAVEL: As required to fulfill the responsibilities of the position

ASRT, Inc. provides scientific, information management, management consulting, bioinformatics, and administrative program support to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and other Federal and private sector clients. The successful candidate will be a full-time employee of ASRT, Inc. and will be assigned to the to the Applied Research and Evaluation Branch (AREB), Division for Heart Disease and Stroke Prevention (DHDSP), National Center for Chronic Disease Prevention and Health Promotion (NCCDPHP), Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) located at 4770 Buford Highway NE, Atlanta, GA, to provide services to satisfy the applied research and evaluation objectives for DHDSP.

SCOPE OF WORK

The Health Scientist II will conduct applied research and translation projects that support DHDSP initiatives and objectives. Applied research may include literature review and synthesis, quantitative and qualitative studies.

MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Identify the science base that underlies heart disease and stroke prevention strategies by conducting evidence reviews.Identify best and promising practices through partner interviews and literature reviews. Develop dissemination products such as one-page overviews, 2-3-page reports or 8-10-page guidance documents and disseminate findings to partners. The specific products and dissemination strategy will be determined by the COR depending on the topic, key audience, and information available. Partner interviews will be conducted within Office of Management and Budget (OMB) Paperwork Reduction Act (PRA) requirements. OMB submissions, if required, will be completed by CDC.Support components of high visibility projects that support the work of DHDSP. This may include, but is not limited to, developing presentations or coordinating speakers and presentations, developing presentations and coordinating speakers for key DHDSP meetings, developing website text that describes DHDSP initiatives and writing success stories, etc.Develop guides, manuals or technical reports for partners and public health practitioners that translate known science and facilitate the adoption identified strategies.Provide technical assistance to grantees or partners on at most 8 occasions. No more than two of these activities will require travel for a face-to-face meeting, at the discretion of the COR.Present project updates or summaries at CDC briefings, or presentations to CDC staff.Requirements:
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education and Experience:
Master of Public Health (MPH) degree.
Required:
At least 2 years of experience in the public health field.Knowledge and experience in the field of research and evaluation.
Desirable:
Additional specific experience related to heart disease and stroke prevention or management of chronic conditions is preferred.Experience with CDC's Program Evaluation Framework is preferred.Experience with literature reviews, OMB PRA, and the development of Institutional Research Board (IRB) materials is preferred.Coordinate experience involving partners/grantees and cross-divisional collaboration.
Language Skills:
The candidate must possess excellent oral and written communication skills in English.
