POSITION SUMMARY
The Flight Paramedic works collaboratively with the Flight Nurse performing transport missions for Jeff Stat 4. The Flight Paramedic as a member of the team accepts individual and collective accountability for the creation of a healing environment demonstrated by positive patient/family centered care services, behaviors and relationships. In addition to prehospital missions, the Flight Paramedic also functions at referring facility locations, during transport and within the hospital using physician verbal orders and JeffSTAT specific medical treatment protocols.
Flight Paramedic is responsible for ensuring the aircraft or vehicle, and equipment is mission ready, the narcotic count is accurate and appropriately documented every shift.
The Flight Paramedic may also serve as a preceptor to new staff within this title, as assigned by department leadership.
These positions support organizational goals by providing quality customer service, participating in performance improvement efforts, participation on shared governance teams, attendance at periodic staff meetings, mentoring and precepting new team members and demonstrating a commitment to teamwork and cooperation.

QUALIFICATIONS
EDUCATION: High School diploma or equivalent required. Graduate of NREMT School of paramedic training required.
LICENSE/CERTIFICATION: Current certification as NREMT-P from National Association EMT. Current BLS, ACLS, PALS, Neonatal resuscitation program (NRP), PHTLS or ITLS certification. Certified or eligible as a Paramedic in the State of Pennsylvania. Certified or eligible as a Mobile Intensive Care Paramedic (MICP) and Air Crew Member-FP in the State of New Jersey. Flight Paramedic Certification. ACM-FP-Air Medical Flight Medic and (FP-C) required within one year of hire. Completion of the National Incident Command Courses; ICS 100, 200, 700, 800 and 5a required within one year.
EXPERIENCE: Three (3) to five (5) years recent experience (minimum 5000 hours) as an Paramedic in a busy ALS system. Critical care transport and previous flight experience preferred. Strong clinical and critical thinking skills required with the ability to work autonomously as part of a team. Successful completion of the JeffSTAT/Air Methods Flight Team Training Program.
PERFORMANCE EXPECTATIONS
Ongoing validated competency as required both generally and within unit parameters as they relate to patient populations' needs. Participation in quality assurance and educational activities. Successful completion of yearly clinical competency exam, simulation and Medical Command Review. Completion of yearly Air Methods required training.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
Potential for exposure to the hazards in the hospital and prehospital environment including but not limited to: blood borne pathogens, infectious disease exposure and hazardous substances.
Flight specific: Exposure to potential hazards associated with flight including but not limited to variable weather conditions and mechanical failure. Due to aircraft performance parameters, the position has individual crew weight thresholds which are checked on a quarterly basis for weight and balance requirements. This position requires lifting, pushing, or pulling with assistance, equipment weighing 100 lbs or more. Position also requires lifting, loading, and unloading patients with assistance weighing 300 lbs or greater. This position requires sitting, standing, walking, stooping, crouching, and climbing.

This position reports to department leadership.
