Graduate of a nurse practitioner or physician assistant program required. Master's degree required; Doctoral degree preferred. Current RN and APN licensure (State of New Jersey and/or Multistate License) required or PA licensure. BLS-HCP and ACLS certifications are required. Minimum 3 years of clinical advanced practice experience required; 5+ preferred. Critical care experience is required. Demonstrated leadership experience, preferred. Lean Six Sigma White Belt certification is preferred, or it is to be completed within 12 months of hire.

LEADERSHIP:
The Lead APP serves in a dyad role with the physician Director of Critical Care and service line operational leadership as a knowledgeable, experienced, and respected leader. This position is responsible for the leadership of all critical care APPs, working collaboratively with key stakeholders in nursing, physician, and administrative leadership in support of the service line mission, vision, and goals.
Leadership duties:
Partner with stakeholders to develop an effective and efficient workforce plan and improve the integration of APPs in critical care while ensuring that APPs are at the top of license practice. Provide leadership for APP evidence-based practice, engagement, quality and safety outcomes, and performance improvement. Complete annual performance evaluations for all APP's along with the AVP of Advanced Practice Providers and the Critical Care Medical Director. Support APP participation in all system wide education and training. Participate in interview process for new physicians and APPs. Develop, implement, and review a process for APP onboarding and orientation, including the establishment of hiring guidelines (experience and qualifications review) Work closely with Medical Director to address concerns related to APP performance, including the review of patient comments that pertain to APPs Represent critical care APPs on service line meetings and organizational committees, including the Division of Critical Care, the Advanced Practice Council, and other pertinent committees affecting women's health operations and clinical practice. Participate as needed in meetings with transdisciplinary team (medical director, medical leadership team, clinical staff, RN director of the region)
CLINICAL:
The APP provides care for patients who have experienced life-threatening injuries and illness while playing a crucial role in the assessment, stabilization, and management of critical care patients. These conditions may be addressed in the other areas of the hospital beside the patient unit. The APP may perform diagnostic and therapeutic tasks and procedures independently while collaborating with physician colleagues with appropriate credentialing for privileges. The APP will collect data and assess, diagnose, treat, and evaluate patients under their care, including surveys to identify, manage, and prioritize interventions while interpreting diagnostic results. The APP is responsible for patient advocacy in the medical care system, serving as an advisor and liaison between patients and physicians.
This position supports organizational goals by providing quality customer service, participating in performance improvement efforts, and demonstrating a commitment to teamwork and cooperation.
Depending on the discipline of the APP - appropriate state administrative codes and AtlantiCare Bylaws, Rules and Regulations will apply and could vary in that discipline (NP v. PA).
QUALIFICATIONS:
EDUCATION: Master's degree required. Completion of an accredited nurse practitioner or physician assistant (associate) program is also required.
LICENSE/CERTIFICATION: The candidate must be board-certified as a nurse practitioner or physician assistant and licensed by the State of New Jersey. The candidate must also be credentialed as an allied health practitioner with AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center in accordance with the Medical Staff Bylaws.
EXPERIENCE: Minimum of three years of experience in the advanced practice provider role, 5+ years preferred. Critical care experience is required. Proficiency in clinical applications is preferred at the time of hire. Incumbents within the position will be trained appropriately, and then skills will be required within 30-60 days from the hire date.
RECOMMENDED: A doctorate with didactic leadership training is preferred or other demonstrated leadership experience. Lean Six Sigma, White Belt certification is preferred or must be completed within 12 months of hire.
PERFORMANCE EXPECTATIONS
Demonstrates leadership, operational, and clinical competencies as established by the Assessment and Evaluation Tool for this position.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
Potential for exposure to the hazards and risks of the hospital environment, including exposure to infectious disease, blood-borne pathogens, hazardous substances, and potential injury. Extensive standing and walking, including stairs. Lifting approximately 25-50 pounds frequently. Lifting approximately 50-100 pounds with assistance occasionally.

REPORTING RELATIONSHIP
This position reports to the AVP of Advanced Practice Providers with dotted line structure clinically (to Critical Care Medical Director) and operationally (to service line operational leadership) creating a triad.
Will function as a clinical team leader for critical care in a physician director/APP dyad structure for team decisions around providers.
Will supervise/manage a minimum of 10 APPs (0.1 admin time) to a maximum of 20 APPs (0.2 admin time) in the critical care service line.
