Although you will not have direct interaction with patients, your work as a Scheduler will have a profound impact on the services they receive. In addition to scheduling procedures and assisting physicians with scheduling policies, you will provide clerical support to the front desk and may act as a resource for new personnel during orientation.

We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Clinic Surgery Scheduler to join our neurosurgery practice. The Surgery Scheduler will be responsible for managing the surgery schedule, coordinating with the insurance, scheduling patients for surgery, and ensuring that all necessary pre-surgery workups are completed. The ideal candidate will have excellent communication skills, the ability to multitask, and experience working in a fast-paced medical environment. In addition to surgery scheduling, this role will also assist with front desk duties, including checking in patients, scheduling for clinic appointments, and providing backup support for phone calls.

Responsibilities

Maintain and manage the neurosurgery schedule, ensuring all surgeries are scheduled efficiently and accurately.Work closely with the neurosurgeons, surgical team, and patients to find suitable dates for procedures.Collaborate with the insurance to verify insurance details, obtain pre-authorization for surgeries, and ensure all insurance requirements are met.Communicate surgery details with patients and provide pre-surgery instructions.Ensure that all necessary pre-surgery workups (lab work, imaging, etc.) are completed in a timely manner.Assist patients with scheduling and rescheduling surgery appointments as needed.
May assist manager with maintaining and updating staff profiles.

May assist computer program director with various computer duties updating system, timebooking information etc.

May independently initiate required reports. Maintains patient confidentiality.

May function as Secretarial support-- performing various and numerous duties. Performs department typing as assigned. Completes patient charges, reviews and updates suture lists, miscellaneous charge list, etc., as needed to ensure proper revenue.

Qualifications

Education:

Completion of high school or equivalent.

Experience:

Medical assistant, Secretary, Unit Secretary, Surgical Technician or Imaging Support Specialist preferred.

Skills:

Knowledge of appropriate computer systems and software.

Knowledge of department policies and procedures.

Medical terminology.

Requires typing 35 wpm.

Demonstrated time management and organizational skills.

Demonstrated communication skills.

Demonstrated ability to work under stress.

Demonstrated ability to work with confidential information.
