WHAT YOU'LL DO
Responsible for the professional management of projects that increase knowledge and facilitate implementation of best practices in diagnosing and treating chronic kidney disease (CKD) and its complications. These include, but are not limited to, the development, implementation and oversight of medical conferences, scientific programs, publication of special articles, the creation of project descriptions, educational materials, funding proposals and budgets.
Facilitate the planning and execution of scientific workshops, working groups and conferences. Works closely with key volunteers, strategic partners and all internal stakeholders to define the scope of work, project goals, and agendas. Outlines project tasks, detailed development plans and timelines. Manage project faculty recruitment and participant invitations. Responsible for creation of supporting meeting materials, and publication of conference output. Assists in the identification of the venues and coordination of the onsite meeting logistics.
Manage volunteer Work Groups assigned to accomplish various NKF initiatives.Administer various other NKF medical programs and research projects. Manage the development of special reports/articles including facilitating contributions of multiple authors, plus compiling, editing, referencing, proofing and submitting manuscripts for publication to designated peer reviewed medical journal. Works with the journal editorial staff and authors to review the page proofs and reconcile queries.Assist with the development and review of medical education programs and materials.Represent NKF at professional conferences by attending scientific sessions, staffing exhibits and preparing presentations and materials for distribution.Assist in development of proposal and budgets related to fundraising activities for scientific workshops/conference and other applicable meetings. Work with Corporate Relations and Development staff to identify funding targets. Assist in online grant submissions and reconciliations.Develop written timelines, progress reports, and other deliverables for funders.Perform additional duties as required.
WHAT YOU'LL POSSESS
Advanced degree (Masters or PhD) in science or health related fieldMinimum 5 years' experience in project management.In-depth understanding of science or medicine and the ability to communicate with medical professionals.Experience working with key opinion leaders and subject matter experts in healthcare.Experience designing and executing healthcare leadership meetings/conferences.Experience developing scientific manuscripts.Experience with grant and proposal writing preferred. Ability to interact effectively with all levels of staff and all health care volunteers.Excellent verbal and written communication skills.Ability to deal effectively with deadlines and time constraints to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.Excellent problem-solving ability and strong attention to details.Flexible for overnight business domestic and international travel including weekends and weekdays.Proficient with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and reference management software, such as EndNote.

WORKING CONDITIONS, EQUIPMENT USED AND SPECIAL INFORMATION
Must be able to handle a variety of assignments simultaneously. Verbal and written communication skills will be used daily. Must possess a high degree of professionalism, tact, discretion, decision making, and patience. Maintain effectiveness even under pressure. Uses a multiple line telephone, personal computer, fax machine and photocopier. Must be flexible for overtime and business travel as required. (Estimate: 6 trips per year).
