Overview

Simulation Technician: (9 months - Academic Year)
Collaborate with the Simulation Coordinator, Specialists, Leadership, and inter-professional groups to: Assist in the design, planning, implementation and evaluation of technologies required for simulation program using industry standards and established best-practice standard under the guidance and supervision of the Simulation Coordinator.Establish learning environment to best leverage available technologies.Support creativity with established learning context to simulate realism.Manage technology related to maintenance agreements.Maintain an inventory of equipment/supplies and anticipate the need for updates and replacements,Operate computer mannequins, related operating software, electronic health record, characteristics and programming, and A/V equipment.Participate in the HR process for hiring, on-boarding, training, coaching, and scheduling standardized patients, in conjunction with the Simulation Coordinator and Campus Associate Dean. Locate and order medical supplies needed to enhance deliver of simulation activities (e.g. pharmacy drugs, dressing. Manage organization and storage of all clinical learning and medical supplies. (Under supervision of Simulator Coordinator.Provide logistical support for simulation activities including: set-up and tear down of patient simulators, computers, and A/V equipment.Assist with maintenance of a scenario database, as well as online and web resources for simulation under supervision of Simulation Coordinator.Seek increased competence as a simulation technician with involvement at a local and national level by representing OHSU SON in organizations such as Oregon Simulation Alliance (OSA).
Educational Program Support: (30% Academic Year-Round - with greater administrative support in summer.)
Support in the care and maintenance of departmental equipment, supplies, work areas and facilities; requisition supplies and equipment as needed for instruction: select and organize teaching aides to include videos, electronic health record, nursing supplies, and equipment to demonstrate improved methods of patient care; maintain required departmental records, reports and statistics as appropriate.Provide BLS certification training to faculty, staff, and students 2 - 3 times per year with the training/support from the Center for Advancement of Resuscitation Education (CARES) [if certified]Orders, inventories, and maintains all campus PPE & health maintenance suppliesSchedules and provides guidance to student workers. Supports all campus events (e.g., admissions, social events, SIGMA, convocation, graduation) in conjunction with the administrative teamSchedules, coordinates, and maintains calendars for all OHSU SON class/conference room space on the La Grande Campus. Supports the Campus Associate Dean, and faculty in checking bills, travel expenses, and ordering all office supplies.Proctoring exams as need. Other administrative duties as assigned.
Public Relations:
Meets and greet college administrators, faculty and students daily and maintains a cordial and welcoming environment.Responds daily to phone calls and email from the public, host campus and OHSU community pertaining to SCLC and campus responding with a professional level of proficiency and integrity.Responds daily to priority request, re-adjusts workload as needed and keeps the SCLC faculty and/or manager appropriately informed.Participated in committee meetings, sets agendas, assists with meeting arrangements, and takes minutes for the campus and SCLC as assigned.Prepared and composes correspondence, reports memos, or other program documents for SCLS routinely.
Provides daily general administrative support to the SCLC and the SON
Service Excellence Responsibilities:
Provides back-up as need to support the work of the La Grande SCLC in order to meet all of the learner, faculty, and team needs.Fulfill responsibility to the organization through performance that promotes the service excellence philosophy.Performs other duties as required.
Responsibilities

Four years of general office or secretarial experience; OR
An Associate's degree or certificate in office occupations or office technology and two years of general office or secretarial experience; OR
A Bachelor's degree and two years of general office or secretarial experience; OR
An equivalent combination of training and experience.
Prior experience working in a team-oriented environment.
Strong educational program development and program delivery.
Background in computer use, set-up, trouble shooting, and maintenance.
Experience with setting up simulation and experience setting up A/V equipment a must.
Understanding of healthcare terminology ideal for this candidate.
Demonstrated ability to communicate with diverse groups.
Recent (past two years) experience and competency in MS Suite applications, e.g. Word, PowerPoint and Excel.
Typing 40+ wpm; High level of organization and prioritization skills required to complete work in a timely and efficient manner;
Excellent grammar, punctuation and spelling;
Highly developed and experienced interpersonal communication skills, both verbal and written.
This position is team-oriented working cooperatively with academic, unclassified management, and classified personnel on a daily basis.
Advanced experience with MS productivity tools such as PowerPoint/Word.Experience with web-based learning applications (e.g. Sakai, online calendar, newsletter tools and event registration).High level of ability to organize and prioritize multiple demands and deadlines.High level development in independent thinking and decision-making while working as a team player.Highly developed ability to work cooperatively in an academic environment with faculty, staff and students.Understanding of simulation technology.Self-directed team player.Able to create, translate and facilitates case-based learning scenarios.Excellent communication skills - verbal and written.Strong facilitation skills.Some knowledge of healthcare and medical terminology.Ability to identify AV cables and different equipment.CHSOS
Qualifications

Certified Simulation Operation Specialist - (CSOS)
BA of BS Computer science technology, education, business management, communications, nursing or healthcare related including natural sciences such as biology and chemistry.
Prior experience working with faculty and programs within a higher education environment.
Experience also preferred in working with students with diverse backgrounds.

Teaching or training experience preferred.
Excellent skills and strong experience with digital audio-visual editing (Adobe Premiere), Filemaker Pro, Access, Captivate, Learning Management Systems, Windows Operating Systems.
Experience in moulage techniques.
Knowledge of medical terminology, health-related experience and education experience.
Desire to learn more about medical field and medical technology.
