POSITION SUMMARY

The Lead CSR assists in the development and implementation of the Oncology Program, including Medical Oncology, Radiation Oncology, and Oncology supportive services, and ensures the effective and efficient operations of the program administratively. The Lead CSR is responsible for the daily oversight of all of scheduling, including consults, treatments, procedures, tests and imaging services within the Outpatient Hospital (Ambulatory) Cancer Center setting. The Lead CSR position supervises and assists in the coordination of a wide variety of patient and information flow, between Physician Offices, Lab/Genetic testing, Radiology and supporting services offered at the Cancer Center. The Lead CSR is responsible for demonstrating the knowledge and proficiency of the initial patient registration process, as well as the online tools necessary to provide patients with information regarding precertification, referral needs, co-payment, and medical necessity requirements for services to be rendered. This position communicates and collaborates with Patient Access team members and other hospital and Atlanticare Physician Group personnel, to provide quality customer service.

The Lead CSR supports the development and implementation of policies and procedures that govern the Oncology Program. The Lead CSR ensures and maintains compliance with department policies and supports the implementation and evaluation of process improvement. This position supports the coordination of quality improvement initiatives and promotes teamwork, with other Atlanticare departments, outpatient services and community programs.

The Lead CSR provides administrative support to the Oncology team and assists with all operations as required. This position ensures effective communication with the Cancer Center care team and distributes information as appropriate.

This Lead CSR supports organizational goals by providing quality customer service, participating in performance improvement efforts and demonstrating a commitment to teamwork and cooperation.

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION: High school diploma or equivalent required. Associate's Degree in related field or a specialized training management program preferred.

LICENSE/CERTIFICATION:

EXPERIENCE: 3-5 years' experience in the medical field as a registrar, receptionist or other related position required. Minimum 1-year insurance, CPT4 and ICD-10 coding experience

Preferred. Additionally, a minimum of 2-5 years of customer service or community/public interaction required. Knowledge of medical terminology and computer experience with scheduling software programs and STAR is preferred. Proficiency in Clinical Applications preferred at time of hire; incumbents within position will be trained appropriately and then skill will be required for this position within 30-60 days from date of hire.

PERFORMANCE EXPECTATIONS

Demonstrates the technical competencies as established on the Assessment and Evaluation Tool.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

Potential for exposure to the hazards and risk of the hospital environment, including exposure to infectious disease, hazardous substances, and potential injury. This position requires a combination of sitting, standing, walking, stooping and crouching throughout the workday.

REPORTING RELATIONSHIP

This position reports to the Oncology Department Director, Manager or Leadership in other departments within the organization.
