Qualifications
RS&H is seeking a Health & Safety Manager to provide dedicated safety leadership across all Business Units. This role is integral to the implementation and oversight of RS&H's Health & Safety Program, ensuring compliance with all regulatory requirements while fostering a proactive safety culture across CM operations.
This position will:
Provide safety leadership across all business units, conducting audits and enforcing hazard mitigation strategies tailored to diverse operational needs.Lead fleet safety initiatives, including telematics tracking, MVR compliance, and driver safety programs.Drive a proactive safety culture through leadership engagement, field coaching, and workforce involvement.Collaborate with project leadership and operational teams to integrate safety into all phases of project and service delivery.Travel frequently (up to 75%) to provide hands-on safety oversight at various project locations.

Key Responsibilities1. Safety Leadership & ComplianceServe as the regional safety leader for all RS&H business units, ensuring full compliance with RS&H's Health & Safety Program and regulatory standards.Conduct pre-project hazard assessments to identify and mitigate risks before work begins.Perform site audits, risk assessments, and field safety coaching to reinforce safe work practices.Identify and mitigate construction-related hazards, including trenching, heavy equipment operation, fall protection, and traffic control.Engage project leadership and field teams to integrate safety into all phases of project execution.2. Fleet Safety & Driver ComplianceWork closely with the Fleet Manager to track telematics data, MVR reports, and compliance trends.Administer the Fleet Safety Reward & Recognition Program to encourage safe driving behaviors.Lead and conduct Fleet Safety Training for drivers of light-duty trucks and cars.Ensure proper vehicle inspections and driver accountability measures are in place.3. Field Safety Engagement & Proactive Safety CultureConduct jobsite safety audits, field coaching, and leadership engagement to drive a proactive safety culture.Provide direct safety mentorship to project teams, subcontractors, and leadership.Actively engage with Safety Champions and field personnel to foster ownership of safety practices.Promote early hazard recognition and risk reduction by embedding safety into project workflows.4. Incident Investigation & Emergency ResponseLead incident investigations, ensuring thorough root cause analysis and corrective action planning.Support drug & alcohol compliance programs, including testing administration and policy enforcement.Assist with crisis management and emergency response planning for CM job sites.5. Training & Workforce DevelopmentDeliver safety training and compliance programs tailored to the needs of construction, design, and consulting teams.Conduct new hire safety orientations for all RS&H personnel, ensuring clear safety expectations.Develop and mentor Safety Champions to enhance workforce engagement in safety initiatives.Promote a collaborative, safety-driven mindset among field and office personnel.Qualifications & ExperienceRequired:Bachelor's degree in Occupational Safety, Construction Management, or a related field - or equivalent hands-on safety leadership experience.5-10 years of experience in construction safety leadership, particularly in civil infrastructure and highway projects.Strong knowledge of regulatory safety standards, construction hazard mitigation, and site safety management.Experience managing fleet safety programs for light-duty trucks and cars, including telematics tracking and driver training.Ability to travel up to 75% and provide on-site safety leadership.Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook).Preferred:Safety certifications (CHST, CSP, STS, OHST) (preferred, or required within a set timeframe upon hiring).Experience with heavy civil construction safety programs (highways, bridges, and transportation projects).Prior experience conducting field safety coaching and workforce safety engagement programs.Familiarity with third-party safety verification platforms (ISNetworld, Veriforce, etc.).Physical Requirements & Working ConditionsActive engagement in both office and construction environments.Regularly required to walk on uneven surfaces, stand for extended periods, and climb ladders.Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs. occasionally.Occasional night and weekend work may be required for project support.
