Overview
Provide clinical management of patients in Hematology & Medical Oncology; Assure a coordinated, effective, high quality, and efficient care process; Use an interdisciplinary team approach to the care of patients; Work collaboratively with clinic management on process improvement projects; Provide education to colleagues, staff and students, as needed. The Center for Hematologic Malignancies (CHM) outpatient clinic provides acute and long-term care to patients who have undergone an autologous or allogeneic hematopoietic cell transplant (HCT) or received other cellular therapies such as chimeric antigen receptor T-cell (CAR-T) therapy.
This APP sees up to 12 patients per day and provides care in conjunction with a team comprised of physicians, APPs, RN coordinators, and other allied health professionals. As determined by the team's needs, APPs may practice independently or in a shared-care model with physicians.
Additionally, this APP may intermittently provide oversight of the infusion unit, responding to acute infusion reactions and urgent medical issues.
After appropriate proctoring, APPs will independently perform procedures including bone marrow aspirate/biopsy, lumbar puncture, ommaya tap, and skin biopsy.
