Part-time Phlebotomist normal work schedule will be 15 hours per week, 3 hours per day, Monday - Friday with rotating weekends. The shift will be from 5:30 a.m. - 8:30 a.m., no breaks.

Job Duties
Performs assigned tasks with minimal oversight.Performs blood collection requiring knowledge of clinical science to understand the multiplicity of tests and specimen requirements, the mechanics of venipuncture and patient preparation.Performs phlebotomy to obtain patient specimens for laboratory testing including blood cultures and compatibility samples.Accession and receive samples into VA laboratory information system package for laboratory testing.Accession and receive sample into VA laboratory information system package to send out for reference laboratory testing.Instructs patients in proper collection of 24-hour urine and other samples collected at home.Prepares collection, measure and record 24-hour urine volumes.Transports specimens to the laboratory including those requiring special handling.Looks up laboratory order numbers and patient information for outpatient draws.Answers phone and direct calls to other laboratory sections.Establishes and maintains effective interpersonal skills and good customer relations with Patients, Families, and all other Medical Center Employees.Provides general clerical and administrative support for the area.Stocks and maintains specialized supplies used in the drawing area.Requirements:Must have a high school diplomaMinimum of one year experience in the last three years.Phlebotomist Certification is preferred.Contractor's assigned personnel shall be certified in Basic Life Support (BLS) (CPR). Certifications must be obtained or issued by the American Heart Association (AHA).
